Decent second chance romance
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
This is the third book in the Silverado Lake series centering around August Harding and Leila Valentino. August and Leila were High School sweethearts, that were planning on spending their life together when August’s fathers death sends him spiraling into grief and depression. August ends up ghosting Leila and they each go their separate ways. A decade or so has passed and Leila is trying to save her grandparents vineyard. They are in such dire straits that she agrees to a partnership with wine conglomerate Kingston Vineyards. They will help with the vineyard, but if they don’t increase profits 30% in three months, Kingston will take over. Of course, August works for Kingston and is sent to help with this takeover. This is a setup for a nice second chance romance. Overall, this was a decent read. One of the issues I had with the first book, also was a problem with this book. August has never gotten over his father’s death. The description of his reaction sounded like clinical depression. It’s about a decade later and he still is not over it. His family seems close, but none of them go to him and suggest counseling? I also felt like there was too much emphasis on the business side of the story and not enough focus on the rebuilding of their romance. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but felt this one was just okay.
