Publisher Description
In the predominantly mormon city of Draper, Utah, some seemingly perfect families have deadly secrets.
Linda Wallheim is a devout Mormon, mother of five boys and wife of a bishop. But Linda’s daily routine of church-going, Relief Society meetings, and visiting church ward members is turned upside down as a disturbing situation takes shape in her seemingly idyllic neighborhood. Young wife and mother Carrie Helm has disappeared. Carrie’s husband, Jared, claims that she has abandoned the family, but Linda doesn’t trust him. As she snoops, trying to learn more about the Helms’ circumstances, Linda becomes convinced Jared murdered his wife and painted himself as a wronged husband.
Inspired by a chilling true crime and written by a practicing Mormon, The Bishop’s Wife is both a fascinating peek into the lives of modern Mormons and a grim and cunningly twisted mystery.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
YA author Harrison (The Princess and the Hound) makes her adult debut with a stunning contemporary mystery set in Mormon country. Linda Wallheim, the independent-minded wife of an LDS bishop, is the unofficial problem-solver and general soothsayer for the Mormon community of Draper, Utah. When distraught Jared Helm shows up at the Wallheims' door with his five-year-old daughter, Kelly, Linda is immediately suspicious, growing more so after Jared claims that his wife, Carrie, simply up and left her family. There's talk in the ward about the Helms' tumultuous marriage, but Linda finds it hard to believe that Carrie would abandon Kelly with her husband, who's known for his extremist views. Linda does all she can to assist in the search for Carrie. An intriguing subplot involves dark secrets that one ward member sought to hide for years. Harrison, a Mormon herself, easily transports readers into a world most will find as unfamiliar as a foreign country. 15-city author tour.

The Bishop's Wife by Mette Ivie Harris
An technically accurate tale of the complex life of the wife of a Mormon Bishop that minus the homicides is reflected infinitely like the reflections in the sealing room across the entire Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Local church leaders, handicapped by their male perspective, are often forced to recognize evil in their midsts by valiant Relief Society and Young Women's leaders - and sometimes Bishop's wives.
The Bishop’s Wife
Interesting story, can not say I really liked it, but I am moving on to book 2 just so I can see what Linda sticks her nose into next.
