Church Reformation Tenderly Handled

John Brinsley (1600-1665), was a Presbyterian puritan divine who was a powerful Reformed Gospel preacher and writer.



Brinsley masterfully, but tenderly, explains Matthew 3:12, “And he will thoroughly purge his floor.” He demonstrates that God, the great husbandman, has put the fan into the hand of this his righteous servant, the Lord Jesus Christ, that he should purge his floor, his church. Here the Church of God will be blessed with a happy reformation. He covers practical exhortations on what it means to have true reformation, such as being thankful for what we have; that we mourn over what we lack. This is not something to do just a church, but we ought to begin the work of reformation at home, in our own hearts, lives, and families. This is a wonderful work on how true reformation should take hold of every church and every Christian for the glory of God.
