4.5 Stars! This is book 12 in ‘the Survivors’ series and can be read as a standalone. I’ve read almost every book in this series and highly recommend reading all of them! I’m so invested in this series that I’m sad that it’s coming to an end. I loved this book and I understand where the main male character, Nicholas, is coming from since I also have a lot of scars and need a cane to walk. But still, I really wanted to smack him at times. (Yes, I wanted to smack a fictional character. Sue me!) The main female character, Amelia, had to deal with so much in her life but I’m glad she got a HEA ending, she deserves it. Now I’m left to wonder about Nicholas’s sister, Florentia, and weather she ever finds love. (That would make a good novella, yeah?! Fingers crossed!) My only critique is that I do wish there was a bigger grand gesture at the end but since I can resonate with Nickers(Nicholas), I understand that it was a grand gesture to him.
