Publisher Description

Most Christians only see the "public" face of Mormonism, thanks to their persuasive PR campaigns: clean-faced young people, parents committed to family values, and spectacular temples. But what do Mormons really believe? In this revealing book you'll learn their shocking doctrines, like:

     • It's good to lie... to protect the church.

     • There are millions of gods.

     • God was once a man, and became a god.

     • We can become gods, too.

     • Jesus and Lucifer were spirit brothers.

     • We all have an "Eternal Mother."

     • God is a polygamist.

     • The Jesus of the Bible was a polygamist.

     • The Jesus of Christianity is NOT the Jesus of Mormonism.

     • Sins are forgiven through good works.

     • Salvation by faith in Jesus is "utter nonsense."

     • Black people were cursed by God.

     • A group of gods helped Jesus form the earth.

     • Some sins require the shedding of your own blood.

You'll also read the moving testimony of former Mormon, Cindy Benson. She reveals from personal experience the ugly, hidden side of Mormonism. She was only eleven years old when her 53-year-old father announced that a 15-year-old girl must become his second wife. Once you know what Mormons really believe, you will be better equipped to witness to them.

Inaccurate all the way around

so far I’ve read half of this book and it’s almost laughable. I’d give it a 0 of 5 stars if I could. Ultimately it drives its narrative off individual members personal opinions about how eternal life and such are supposed to work, and most of it isn’t considered doctrine by church standards. It also drives its points from Members who, in fact, may not even be members of the true LDS church and may be broken branches that still practice things like plural marriage (in reference to the girls story about her 53 year old grandfather) or who have taken truth (like many other churches in this world) and twisted it to fit their own conceited, sinful, desires of this world. Each point has 5% of what LDS members actually believe and probably 95% false rumors, misconceptions, bad experiences between people (not the actual church itself), and lies. The biggest things this book gets wrong is explaining the god head accurately, The historical founding of the church, plural marriage and its history. Those are the biggest things but ultimately there’s a ton it gets wrong. If we’re just talking about the book in general, this book overall was poorly written and has no clear line of thought or thesis except the impression that; “since I’ve made this claim about this one thing, you now have to believe it to be accurate (when it’s not) and with each point I make you now must hate members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and see them as evil with each passing sentence I compose”. If you wish to learn more about the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints this book really isn’t the way to go. But if you’re reading it for a second opinion from people who hate the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for whatever reason and enjoy reading literary garbage then sure this the right book for you.

Disappointed reader

This book sounds ridiculous just by reading the bullet points, half of those arguments aren't even true. Know your facts and then write a book.
