Description
Stemming from the third annual Pediatric Bioethics Conference, this University of Washington series reflects the dilemmas created when parents request medical care that physicians resist — or resist medical care their child's providers recommend. “Current Controversies: Navigating Conflicts When Parents and Providers Disagree About Medical Care” is sponsored by the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics at Seattle’s Children's Hospital. Pediatric health care providers sometimes find themselves at odds with parents regarding the best course of treatment for their child. Should "futile" and expensive treatments be given, or is cost a pragmatic factor in that determination? What if the parent's religious beliefs conflict with the physician's recommendations? How can doctors and parents find common ground without compromising the child's health?
