Description
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's African art collection ranks among the most important in the world. Its focus is on the cultural heritage of sub-Saharan Africa and is presented as a survey of artistic landmarks that provide a general overview of the immensely varied and rich diversity of the region. Special exhibitions and public programs organized by the museum expand upon the permanent collection to examine specific thematic concepts as well as to focus on regional traditions.
