Description
The African Origins Project invites members of the public to assist in identifying the historical origins of Africans transported in the transatlantic slave trade. Beginning in late spring 2010 the project's African-Origins website (http://www.african-origins.org) will present details of more than 67,000 Africans liberated from slaving vessels in the early 19th century. Those with knowledge of African languages and ethnicities, geography, and cultural naming practices are invited to assist in identifying these Africans' origins by suggesting ethnicities and languages associated with their names.
