On Building Intelligent Machines
The lecture on intelligent machines was a good laymen's (lay-developer's) introduction to the subject. I plan on using the online lectures to serve as an introduction to the subject for a study group of professional developers. Dr. Minsky's lectures gives an excellent overview of the ideas and goals in AI without the detailed mathematical expositions that tend to act as a barrier to the introductory student. If a teacher or a group-leader is looking for a path to introduce the subject of AI to students or colleagues, such a person would do well to include Dr. Minsky's lectures into the syllabus and to visit his personal home page often. His php has a great deal of resources that can serve as a spring-board to further learning.
