Calculus lectures
Professor Rosenthal, your lectures were an inspiration for me to learn calculus. You are one of the few university professors that really teach from the heart and not from the book. From your lectures it shows that your aim is for students' understanding and application. I wish there were more university professors that make students' understanding their number one priority like you.
Good Instructor... fire the cameraman
Well planned and delivered lectures. The instructor presents the material in a clear and logical progression of ideas leading up to the main point.
The camera work on the other hand is annoying and distracting.
It suffers from too much movement, constant zooming, panning, and tilting, in an attempt to follow the instructor or reframe the writing on the board.
This should be the easiest job in the world. Frame the picture on the blackboard and lock the camera off. The important information is on the board. Following the instructor around the room adds nothing to the subject, and takes my attention away from the information on the board. I don't need to see the instructor's lips move to hear what he is saying.
Unfortunately, so many other filmed lectures suffer the same problem. Why these idiot camera people can't be taught to simply keep their hands off the camera is beyond me.
