Description
The Civil War era in Appalachia is chronicled in narratives, diaries, correspondence, and reminiscences held by Archives of Appalachia. These personal accounts focus on such aspects as military life, home front and family, slavery and abolition, and economic activities in the antebellum era. Most are contemporary with the war, but some date from the 20th century. The following playlist represents a small sampling of materials relating to the Civil War found in the Archives of Appalachia.
