Good for hearing how a non native would pronounce
Amy is clear for those who have never heard it before. Somtimes we listen to native speakers in these lessons & they speak in such a way that you can't even make out how to break down a word for simple pronunciation because of their native tounge accent. With time your pronunciation will grow to sound more authentic like theirs. Therefore I think Amy's lessons are great for a total basic intro.
Dreadful
Um, French lessons from an undergraduate with a pretty dismal accent speaking English 90% of the time. Don't bother.
Better than Good Enough
Amy's accent is fine for us non-native French speakers. In college, I had a teacher with the accent of a chauvinistic Parisian. When in France, I always tried to emulate that "pure" accent and probably sounded very foolish. Recently, I took a refresher course with a French Canadian. (Not the purest of French regional accents to be sure) I was advised by this very practical tutor, "We'll NEVER speak like Parisians no matter how hard we try. Just concentrate on your vocabulary, get your verbs under control you'll get along just fine." I found this to be good advice. I love traveling in France and trying to converse in their beautiful language. And on my last trip, not a single French person said to me, "Why don't we just speak English?" I count that as some sort of success.
