Description

How do you create depth and tone on paper? How do you create a cd case from scratch? Steve Garner, Professor of Design at the Open University answers these questions and others in this introduction to design basics. All design begins with translating ideas on to a canvas, and this collection encourages you to begin thinking about design principles from how letters are shaped to creating three dimensional models. This material forms part of the Open University course U101 Design thinking.

Nice, but very limited lessons

The presentation quality is good and presented at a nice pace. However, the six lessons here at this time are very basic and limited.

For example, I was a bit puzzled by the lesson on how to create a cardboard mug mock-up. There wasn't any lessons explaining what to do with it. I assume there's further lessons on applying graphic design to mugs, which aren't included here. I'd be nice to have more lessons included here. I'd love to see more.

I love them
