Applied Women's Studies Bradshaw Conference 2011 Claremont Graduate University, The Stauffer Hall of Learning, Albrecht Auditorium, 925 N. Dartmouth Ave. April 1-2, 2011 Keynote Speaker: Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women's Studies and Founding Director of the Women's Research and Resource Center at Spelman College Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women's Studies and Founding Director of the Women's Research and Resource Center at Spelman College, and former president of the National Women's Studies Association, will give the keynote address to open the conference on Friday morning. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion with scholars from the Claremont Colleges on women in politics, labor, religion, and education today. The Friday afternoon session, devoted to women and criminal justice, includes a screening of Me Facing Life, a documentary about a young woman sentenced to life for a murder she committed as a juvenile, and a panel discussion with leaders of community organizations who work with youth and adult women in the criminal justice system. The afternoon session closes with a panel discussion on student activism. The day concludes with an evening of spoken word, poetry and other creative expressions by students from the Claremont Colleges. Saturday sessions include panel discussions on men and masculinities across race and class, women in leadership, and feminism(s) across race and generations. The conference concludes with a screening of March On!, a documentary on the 2009 National Equality Act March in Washington, DC.
