The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ingnatius Georgetown Un.
Wonderful intro to the powerful and deeply moving influence of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. I first heard about the Exercises when studying the major modern movement called, The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. A reference was made to a Father Eddie Dowling S.J. who although was not an alcoholic was significantly instrumental in starting AA in St. Louis 1930's. He had commented at a convention about some similarities to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Since then I have had a laypersons love affair. Fortunately through some "serendipitous" experiences in 1984 I got to do the 19 Annotation. While he was assigned to St. Francis Parish in KCMO, I was directed and trained by the "God Blessed Priest and Spiritual Director", the late Fr. Bob Murphy S.J. My prayer would be that everyone would get to have this experience at least once in their lifetime. Would like more opportunities as this on itunes. First class!! Would like to interact on this topic.
Good stuff
These give you a basic understanding of the spiritual exercises of St Ignatius. They are not the exercises themselves . I found this VERY helpful in understanding their purpose. I would like to see more information about these exercises.
