Description

The Torrey Honors Institute is a Great Books program at Biola University, emphasizing dialogue with primary texts and community discussion. While the majority of the program takes place in seminar-style classes, THI also offers a series of context lectures, posted here, acknowledging that the Great Books not only shape, but are also shaped by, the cultural context in which they are written. The subject matter of context lectures varies considerably from one to the next, creating an extensive network of background information to help better understand the history of Western thought.
