Description
This course will cover basic wide area network theory and the emergence of broadband technologies. From the development of mainframe-based networks to modern high-speed multi gigabit networks, this course will cover the hardware and software components, as well as the transmission theory that supports wide area networking. Special emphasis will be given to the transmission media and the protocols that support high-speed communication. Topics will include packed switch networks, frame relay, cell relay and wireless networks.
