Plot Summary

From the director of The Professional and The Fifth Element comes a stunning, sexy tribute to the healing power of love. When André, a down-on-his-luck gambler, dives into the icy Seine to end it all, he winds up instead rescuing Angela, a gorgeous, mysterious blonde. Filled with renewed passion for life, they set out to settle André's scores as they wander the City of Lights. Along the way, André finds himself, but he still has some questions about his leggy, lovely companion -can she really be as heavenly as she seems? Filled with wit, warmth and eye-popping visuals, ANGEL-A shows just how high you can soar when passion takes flight.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Visually arresting but flawed. Its strongest asset is the stunningly poetic cinematography by Thierry Arbogast. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Sep 1, 2007

Fresh: We all have our own view of paradise, but as long as Besson has Arbogast, his camera and those surreal bare Parisian streets, his schlocky heaven enchants the eye, if not the mind. – Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Angel-A is all icky fantasy. – Wesley Morris, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

Rotten: If Besson's eye is Angela, though, his writing is Andre: awkward, misshapen and earthbound. Andre must learn a lesson in self-esteem that would have embarrassed Capra -- maybe even Oprah. – Kyle Smith, New York Post, Jul 16, 2008

what?

i have not seen it but the it saids that its in english but the trailer is french i belive. can anyone explain

French with English subtitles

Someone in a previous review asked if it was in English. Nope. Original French with English subtitles. It's a brilliant flim about learning to love one's life. A comedy/romantic-comedy.I rented it first. Loved it and decided to buy it. I'm not sure why it's rated R. There were a lot of suggestions and mild language, but no sex scenes. The film reminded me of CITY OF ANGELS.

Very good movie

As of this writing, the only downside to this movie is the fact that you can only rent it. This is such a beautiful movie, it's one you'll want to buy and revisit whenever you have some time alone and need a lift. The soundtrack is a perfect fit and (and fortunately) is available for download on iTunes.
