Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Anyone who can explain the final shot deserves a refund.
Fresh: The acting anchors a tale that might otherwise have spun off, weightless, into realms celebrated by Carl Sagan.
Fresh: The wildly improbable set-up is merely the jumping off point for an exploration of grief, guilt and redemption that plays out almost entirely between two people thrown together by circumstance.
Fresh: The result is an alluring image -- Earth above Earth -- a wrenching story and a wonder-tinged film.

Down To
Like its main character Rhoda, Another Earth is pensive and soberly daring. Rhoda hovers in a near-constant moral grey zone while we are both empathetic for and perturbed by her. Despite its dramatic plot and stunning backdrop the story is not obvious to follow; so, like all good movies, pay attention to its subtleties if you'd like to truly appreciate it. I can not wait to see what lovely Marling does next.
More than just Scifi
many people complain about this movie not being what a scifi film should be, but what they dont understand is thats how its supposed to be. The added concept of scifi was placed in there to grab attention and get the plot started, but if you really watch the movie, youll realize it isnt really meant to be a scifi.
The Best Movie Of 2011 So Far
Everything works perfectly together. The acting, writing, story, plot execution, and cinematography are great. But the best attribute this movie has is its wise and philosophical viewpoint. An instant classic.
