Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Might restore your faith in our perplexing, peculiar and stubbornly lovable species.
Fresh: The film's message is loving and clear: we all created equal, even if some of us have better access to diapers.
Fresh: The photography is stunning, and Bruno Coulais' music adds just the right soundtrack to this intriguing visual diary.
Rotten: The cry of a baby is ruthlessly, evolutionarily designed to be one of the most irritating sounds on Earth. So why would you want to hear it (many times) on massive movie theater speakers?

"Babies" are us!
I LOVED this movie and plan to watch it again and again. It's funny to read the other reviews. You can tell who's had baby contact and who hasn't. Some of those reviews actually make it clear why this is such an important movie for our time. Yes, important! We have become so detached from Life and it's reality, from Nature. Clearly, it's like the chicken we eat and the distance we maintain from that feathered creature pecking about. Babies are us. That's how we all begin, and what's so magical about "Babies" is how it shows that no matter where we begin and what foundation we're given, we're very much alike. The funniest thing to watch, and from the very beginning of the film, is the relationships between young siblings. These tensions and attractions are universal! This movie shows us who we are as human beings and does it beautifully.
Babies is the feel-good movie of the year!
This movie filled me with wonder and joy. Babies is a very funny, cute, and informative documentary.
Heart-warming & Moving
This is a great movie. It shows that we are all created equally and that all mothers are good mothers-regarless of if they have cell phones or not, if they have diapers for their babies or not, etc. It truely shows how all mothers are loving. What captivated me the most about this movie was how it shared the culture of each country raising their children, suggesting what we do and do not need to raised children-which came down to "all you need is love". It was truely a beautiful and moving documentary.
