Plot Summary
Some teachers just don't give an F. For example, there's Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz). She's foul-mouthed, ruthless, and inappropriate. She drinks, she gets high, and she can't wait to marry her meal ticket and get out of her bogus day job. When she's dumped by her fiancé, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Justin Timberlake) – competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch). When Elizabeth also finds herself fighting off the advances of a sarcastic, irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel), the consequences of her wild and outrageous schemes give her students, her coworkers, and even herself an education like no other.

Rotten: A frustrating mix of smart flash and smirking impudence.
Fresh: There are plenty of quality gags seeping through from the margins.
Rotten: If you can see past the dismal sexual politics of "Bad Teacher," which I couldn't, you might applaud the gall of a film that expends so little effort in forcing us to like its central character.
Fresh: The film is fast and often funny. And while it's not for children - really - I bet the adults who just spent a school year with them are going to love it.

FAR FROM AMAZING, BUT STILL WORTH CHECKING OUT!
From one look at the trailer, "Bad Teacher" seemed like it had a lot of potential to be one of the funniest movies of the year. It had a promising cast and a hilarious premise, so I decided to go see it on opening weekend. When I came out of the theatre, I was pleased with the movie overall, but a small part of me was a bit disappointed. You see, like a lot of other R-rated comedies released this year, "Bad Teacher" never quite took its raunchy humor and clever writing above and beyond to make it a truly memorable film. However, that's not to say it was entirely bad because it definitely wasn't. Cameron Diaz is downright hysterical as Elizabeth, a foul-mouthed school teacher who hates her job and will go to great lengths to win the affections of a wealthy substitute (Justin Timberlake). Lucy Punch is also a laugh riot as Amy, Liz's annoyingly perky colleague who will stop at nothing to expose her for who she truly is. In my opinion, though, Jason Segel gives the movie's best and most realistic performance as a sarcastic, laid-back gym teacher. I should also probably mention that Phyllis from "The Office" and even Gibby from "iCarly" have small supporting roles in the film, so that's pretty cool. All in all, "Bad Teacher" may not take its formulaic premise to the next level, but with hilarious performances and plenty of quality gags, it's still a laugh-out-loud good time. Rent it if you get the chance!
