Plot Summary

When Maynard James Keenan (enigmatic Tool, A Perfect Circle & Puscifer frontman) fled Los Angeles for a sleepy Arizona ghost town and teamed up with formidable winemaking partner Eric Glomski to pioneer a sustainable wine industry in the harsh climates of the Arizona desert, a lot of people chalked it up to a celebrity with more money than sense. What they didn’t realize was just how serious this rocker was about meeting this challenge with his usual hands-on approach. With winemaking in his blood and his mentor by his side, the next chapter in this unexpected winemaker’s life began, as did the efforts of Keenan and Glomski to develop a world-class vineyard in the most unlikely of places. This perceptive documentary offers a unique blend of master storytelling and breathtaking scenery, all while maintaining a comedic edge with appearances by Milla Jovavich, Patton Oswalt, Tim & Eric (Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!) and Bob Odenkirk.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's an inconsistent film, put together somewhat haphazardly, but Keenan is such a compelling presence - smart, polite, creative and seemingly so full of bottled-up rage he might tear someone's head off at any second - that it's a journey well worth follo – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic, Jun 24, 2010

Very Entertaining!

This was a great documentary and I highly recommend it! I live near a booming wine area and LOVE me some tasty vino; it was really interesting to learn the story behind the Caduceus wines. The historical information about Jerome, AZ was really interesting! I will be vacationing near there in a couple months and it made me more excited to go see this amazing little town and what it has to offer. This documentary really made me thirsty for Maynard's wines!! I can't wait to taste them! I really hope to secure a bottle of Judith and bring her home to the Central Coast of California and take her on an awesome picnic!!
You do not have to enjoy Maynard’s music or wine to enjoy this movie!

Wine into Entertainment

Coming from a girl who likes wine, but isn't too knowledgeable on it, this very informative and entertaining. Maynard is a very creative, passionate man and I really enjoy his music, so that prompted me to watch this documentary in this first place. I am thoroughly impressed with the hard work and dedication that went into making this wine. I would love to sample some Caduceus wine. I guess a trip out west is in order since it doesn't ship to Pennsylvania. I definitely recommend Blood into Wine.

Enjoy

I saw this impressive docu-drama comedy-saga at its opening on Sunset in Hollywood and enjoyed it very much, laughing along with a packed house. I will be getting a hard copy from the web to watch again with friends and kin folk that dont have the new fangled internet gizmos. If you are a fan of the elusive Mayn man's humor or interested in what it takes to make some good juice in the high AZ. desert check this flick out. I have personally enjoyed the product on several occasions and although an admitted amatuer having been introduced by the intrigue of this film due to my interest in the artist. The music of Tool and Puscifer has always been an inspiration and it was interesting to see another facet of a creative enterprising mind. All I can say is the Primo Paso beats anything else I have tried and looking forward to a trip to the wineries hopefully soon. Taking on my own business ventures and can say that Maynard has been one of my inspirations in realizing you can do whatever you put your mind to regardless of what others think or say. Good music, interesting info. and slapstick humor works for me.
