Plot Summary

Bowling for Columbine is an alternately humourous and horrifying film about the United States. It is a film about the state of the Union, about the violent soul of America. Why do 11,000 people die in America each year at the hands of gun violence? The talking heads yelling from every TV camera blame everything from Satan to video games. But are we that much different from many other countries? What sets us apart? How have we become both the master and victim of such enormous amounts of violence? This is not a film about gun control. It is a film about the fearful heart and soul of the United States, and the 280 million Americans lucky enough to have the right to a constitutionally protected Uzi.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: All in all, Mr. Moore has given us a lot to think about in Bowling for Columbine, and he has entertained us royally in the process. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: [Moore's] better at fingering problems than finding solutions. But though he only scratches the surface, at least he provides a strong itch to explore more. – Bruce Westbrook, Houston Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A sweeping, sometimes insightful and often funny look at America's culture of violence. – Robert Denerstein, Denver Rocky Mountain News, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: At its best, which occurs often, Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine rekindles the muckraking, soul-searching spirit of the 'Are we a sick society?' journalism of the 1960s. – Steven Rosen, Denver Post, Jun 24, 2010

Thoughts after watching this moview

It's a really good moview, Mikes touches some really deep topics here, I was going to write a big review of what I took from this movie, but I'll let you make your own conclutions after you watch this movie. I guess what I will do is make sure I don't have a gun. BTW we don't have a lot of guns in Canada, and we're pretty safe here... :-)

Michael Moore

A movie full of half truths and whole Lies, Michael Moore once again twists facts to such a view that for a minute you can kind of see what he's saying. Then you start looking at the tactics he uses and how he only brings up what criminals do with weapons and if you actually think about it he is, as usual, wrong. The one thing that he touches on that he didn't have to skew to prove right his take on that music had nothing to do with these things. Also he doesn't talk about how every gun owner is NOT so conspiracy theorists nut who is waiting for the next coup against the Government.

Bowling for Douchebags

Crappy movie, twisted facts and false logic. Plus, as you all know none of us is forced to be a citizen of the US. If you think it's so "shocking" and has a "violent soul" then get citizenship elsewhere. Simple.
