Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: One of the most spectacular entertainments in years. – Caryn James, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: It takes a real star to make suffering this sexy. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 19, 2011

Fresh: Though the film dawdles a bit with the shimmery, dappled love stuff involving Wallace with a Scottish peasant and a French princess, the action will pin you to your seat. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Rotten: Everybody knows that a non-blubbering clause is standard in all movie stars' contracts. Too bad there isn't one banning self-indulgence when they direct. – Richard Schickel, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

You can watch it over and over again!

Braveheart is one of those movies that you will never get tired of. With its great plot, acting and Mel Gibson's convincing Scotish accent, this movie deserves all that it has won (in awards). 5 stars-amazing.

Scotland Rules

officially the sickest movie ever. this movie is freakin' inspiring. you need to own this movie no matter what you're into.

The best I have yet to see.

First of all, so you know, the MPAA rating was for brutal midieval warfare. Now, to the point. Mel Gibson told the story that touched thousands, probably millions. Nevermind the gore. It's violent because it has to be and that's what they had to endure in order to reach the other side. The passion he had for his country was enough for him to charge even as death stared him in the face several times, and greater still, for hundreds to follow him there. Easily the best picture of the year. Without a doubt, my favorite, and one of the greatest films ever created. --It should've won Best Sound Editing and Best Score too!
