Plot Summary
After taking moviegoers magically into the realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful storytellers and technical wizards at Pixar Animation Studios, and Academy Award®-winning director John Lasseter (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life), hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters –including Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt), and a rusty but trusty tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) – who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship. The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by Tony Shalhoub, Michael Keaton, George Carlin, Katherine Helmond, Cheech Marin, John Ratzenberger, Paul Dooley, Michael Wallis, Darrell Waltrip, racing legend Richard Petty, Jenifer Lewis and Jeremy Piven. Fueled with plenty of humor, action, heartfelt drama, and amazing new technical feats, Cars is a high octane delight for moviegoers of all ages.

Rotten: Along came the interstate, apparently, and ruined everything. Just like that darned Internet, I guess, or that superhighway stuff, or those dumb movies they make with computers nowadays.
Fresh: Like the Toy Story films, Cars is a state-of-the-computer-art plea on behalf of outmoded, wholesome fifties technology, with a dash of Zen by way of George Lucas.
Fresh: It achieves the near impossible, turning cars, trucks, tractors and farm harvesters into cute Disney characters whose fates you'll care about.
Fresh: Cars somewhat self-indulgently runs nearly two hours -- but overall, it's well worth the trip.

....Corvette?
My little boy, just turned 3. we made the mistake of buying the 12 hotwheels type cars - giving him one each week, leading up to the movie debut. when it aired, he was reciting the quicktime commercial complete with 'woohoo' ... {sound effects}.... "pick em up Mater" and so on. The day finally arrived and believe me, the hype was not misplaced. Brilliant movie - kids loved it, Car Dads - well of course we loved it. The Wifey said "its good, but not as good as Nemo/etc" BAH!! whats not to love? engines, muscle cars roaring, fun stuff with Luigi and 'ma-moane' as he likes to call him crack him up.. I am now referred to as Mater, my Wife is , of course, Porsche and the star? that would be he. ;) The only thing to detract? -- WHY o WHY did the have a un-identifiable car in Lightning? (sure sure, to avoid alienating the charger guys, the mustgang guys, etc when they announced the simple fact that Of course its supposed to be a Corvette ;) See it, Itune-It and filler up!
Another Excellent Pixar Film
Cars, while not quite as an intriguing idea as the other films in the Pixar canon, was pulled off very imaginatively. The storytelling is brilliant, as well as the animation techniques. The only thing that sets this film behind the other Pixar films is the less interesting idea compared to looking at the hidden goings-on of toys, bugs, monsters and fish. Yet, however you look at it, it almost seems that the people over at Pixar Studios just can’t make a stinker.
Ka-CHOW!
'Cars' has quickly risen to the top of my favorite movie list. I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. There is a timeless message in it that is portrayed in a way that no movie has ever done before! I highly reccomend this movie to ANYONE. Who cares if it's a "kids" movie?
