Rotten: Teenage boys will love it, but the rest of us will be frustrated by the storytelling, the shaky camerawork and the dubiously effective 3D presentation, which distracts more than it offers

Sad state of affairs
This was the legend, the godfather Ray Harryhausens' last film. For those that complain of cheesy effects, you need to do some research. This was some of the last "true" effects work ever done. Do you have any idea what goes into a 6 second stop motion animation sequence? We're talking weeks of work. Colleges are requiring this film for a reason. Yes, long gone are the days of actually having to sculpt a model from scratch, encase and wrap it in plaster, cook the mold, inlay an armature ( a machined by hand skeleton )re cooking the mold and injecting it with foam rubber, hand painting the model, building the set, fire off each individual frame ( 32 frames per second of film).... No, now we push buttons, and claim it to be better. Yes, some scenes are ratchety, but this was true art. You think these button pushers of today could ever reproduce something like this? Never. Stop motion leaves our minds to fill in the blanks, lets our own imaginations see these creatures with a certain amount of surealism that is lost today. Now, we try to make it as "real" as possible, and to me, the artwork that existed yesterday, is long gone. Ray is a matriarch of the film industry, and is the reason so many are in the field of effects work today. This is art, sorry to those of low intellect that found boredom in this, perhaps something like Scooby Doo is more up your alley.
1 of the best movies ever
I had to watch this movie for a Greek & Roman Mythology Class and I loved the movie Yes, it is a bit cheesy compared to todays movies If you haven't seen this movie I consider watching it cause it's great
Beyond Epic
For those of you who didn't watch this in school, watch it now. Cheesy? Yes. Horrible stop-animation? Yes. But an epic cult classic? Yes! Enjoy!
