Plot Summary

Get ready to fall in love with the adorable Becky Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) in the hilarious romantic comedy Confessions Of A Shopaholic. Living in glamorous New York, Becky desperately wants a job writing for a high-fashion magazine. She gets her stilettos in the door when she gets a job writing a personal finance column at a sister publication. Much to her surprise, her column, "The Girl In The Green Scarf," not only becomes a hit, but she falls head over high heels for her overworked yet handsome boss (Hugh Dancy). But Becky has a secret that leads to some hilarious hijinks that could unravel it all. Based on The New York Times bestselling Shopaholic book series by Sophie Kinsella, and featuring the perfect comedic cast, it's the feel-good must-have romantic comedy you’ll fall in love with over and over again.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Not only is it an unfunny movie shrilly told, it probably is the most ill-timed and appallingly insulting movie in recent memory. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: The production renders totally irrelevant all hopes for a well-made movie. It's one of those ragged, pandemonious studio comedies that hammers at plot points in every contrived scene. – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: [T]his adaptation is really just about buying the 'brand,' and--like the retailers in the film--selling America something it already had. – Christopher Orr, New Republic, Sep 9, 2009

Rotten: It's very hard to watch a wild-eyed woman engage in an orgy of avarice using a fan of maxed-out cards when so many have lost so much - even if there is a message within the madness, that fiscal responsibility is the true key to happiness. – Linda Barnard, Toronto Star, Jul 7, 2010

Fashion Forward Yes!

It's not easy to have a movie live up to the expectations of a book, but Isla Fisher delivers as Becky Bloomwood. The movie is what you think a "Chick Flick" will be, with the emotional ups and downs and of course the dashing prince (Hugh Dancy). The music that accompanies the movie is also just amazing and adds beautifully to the movie. I was skeptical at first, since in my heart Becky is a Brit, but it worked just as well for to be in NYC than in London. Definitely a movie worth seeing if you enjoyed 'The Devil Wears Prada' or any of the 'Bridget Jones' movies! If you love fashion, then this movie is another reason to see it! I just screams 'designer'!

confessions of a shopaholic movie

this movie is cute, funny, and is perfect for any woman who knows the beauty of shopping! this movie is five stars all the way!

Excellent!

I loved this movie! I loved the 2 main characters... Isla and Hugh had great chemistry. My only complaint isn't really a complaint... the movie is really nothing like the book. But I still loved both, and I will buy this movie the second it comes out! Great storyline, great actors, great music. Fans of The Devil Wears Prada will love this movie!
