Plot Summary
On the streets of South Los Angeles, more than 15,000 people have been murdered over the past 30 years in an ongoing cycle of gang violence that continues unabated. Helmed by acclaimed director Stacy Peralta (Dogtown and Z Boys, Riding Giants), narrated by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, and produced by NBA superstar Baron Davis, CRIPS AND BLOODS: MADE IN AMERICA blends gripping archival footage and photos with in-depth interviews of current and former gang members, educators, historians, family members, and experts. Hard-hitting, yet ultimately hopeful, the film not only documents the emergence of the Bloods and the Crips and their growth beyond the borders of South Central, but also offers insight as to how this ongoing tragedy might be resolved.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: With Crips and Bloods: Made in America, the director Stacy Peralta manages to put a human face on a subject that tends to inspire inflamed debate.
Fresh: A doc with the thrust of entertainment, but the content of a thoughtfully researched book.
Fresh: It's a lot to take in, and Peralta does an admirable job cramming tons of history and insight into his reportage on how the 'hood came to be.
Fresh: Deals almost entirely in known facts, but it's still a revelatory film.
