Plot Summary
Eisenhower is President. Rock 'n' Roll is king. And Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker is the baddest hood in his high school. Johnny Depp heads up a super cool cast as the irresistible bad boy whose amazing ability to shed one single tear drives all the girls wild - especially Allison Vernon Williams (Amy Locane), a rich, beautiful "square" who finds herself uncontrollably drawn to the dreamy juvenile delinquent and his forbidden world of rockabilly music, fast cars and faster women. It's the hysterical high-throttle world of 1954 in director John Waters' outrageous musical comedy.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Mr. Depp, who smolders naturally when he isn't trying so hard, acts this role about as well as Elvis would have; under the circumstances, that's fine.
Fresh: Waters' hole card is Johnny Depp, the winsome tough from TV's 21 Jump Street, who radiates big- screen grace and swagger as Cry-Baby -- no easy trick, since he is guying his own image.
Fresh: John Waters' mischievous satire of the teen exploitation genre is entertaining as a rude joyride through another era, full of great clothes and hairdos.
Rotten: Basically the filmmaker reminds us of his affection for social misfits, but without much conviction. He's simply too hip to commit himself to his beliefs, and a relentless frivolity prevails.

A great movie
This movie rules. It's awesome. It's a musical, but no one sings their own songs! So awesome! There are a couple of 'awkward' parts, but it's John Waters, what do you expect? - They aren't that bad anyway. Johnny Depp is amazing as Cry Baby Walker. He's cute, funny, charming, yet he's a total 'bad boy'. He's so young in this film... Great movie, i recommend for any Depp fan, musical fan, or just someone who wants to watch a good, funny movie.
Tear Drops Are Fallin'....Because I'm Laughing So Hard!!!
This movie requires an aquired taste. Very cliche and corny so you have to like that kind of movie. I happen to have that taste so I love this movie! Johnny Depp is so funny as Wayne "Cry-Baby" Walker! It is definitely a John Waters film but if you like his other films you'll love this movie. I personally love this movie and any other Johnny Depp movie. If you like Johnny Depp, musicals, corny cliche movies, or like me, all of the above than "Cry-Baby" is the movie for you!
LOVE IT!
"I'm burnin' inside to touch you, babe!" Best line in a movie. Ever.
