Plot Summary
Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) is a modern woman on a quest to marvel at and travel the world while rediscovering and reconnecting with her true inner self in Eat Pray Love. At a crossroads after a divorce, Gilbert takes a year-long sabbatical from her job and steps uncharacteristically out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life. In her wondrous and exotic travels, she experiences the simple pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali. Based on an inspiring true story, Eat Pray Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The movie left me with the feeling of being trapped with a person of privilege who won't stop with the whine whine whine.
Rotten: We're not so much involved in the movie as idly registering it -- eavesdropping, almost, on a conversation at an adjoining table.
Rotten: Try not to hoot when the gaunt Roberts makes a bring-on-the-flab speech to persuade the equally slender Tuva Novotny to eat pizza, even if they get "muffin tops."
Fresh: A beautiful, languid travelogue, although with some of the source novel's empowerment diluted.

morally discouraging
I love watching Julia Roberts and her dozen fabulous expressions, but the plot of this movie is flaccid, narcissistic, and unrealistic. I know these movies are meant to take you on a journey and adventure, but they also say something about humanity and love, and this one did not seam to exhibit the true glories of either. I do agree with the one dude when he says "you don't need a man, you need a champion." Philosophically, we all need a champion, but the plot does not seem to play out differentiation.
Also, I suppose it highlights introspection over materialism, though I would argue that a more selfless, selfactualizating, selfrevealing journey would be to spend time with the truly impoverished in every country. Realizing God's love for the real outcasts of the world, opens your heart to true real, and lasting love.
I would enjoy the cinematography, art, and food of this movie more, if it were not for the weak morality of the story.
Just Sad
This movie is awful! its for middle aged women who want a break from car pooling to soccer practice! Wow its that sad! I was bored the entire time and it made me want to take a nap
BRILLIANT!
If you love movies this certainly is the right movie for you!
I was touched and inspired by Eat Pray Love. Once I walked out that movie theatre, I saw the world with a different light, as if I was wearing a new pair of eyes. I felt refreshed, in body and soul.
Therefore, I encourage you to watch this must-see movie, and enjoy it for crying out loud!
Whoever does not like this movie is either A. Immature B. too young to understand it or C. well, just plain shallow.
Oh, and also 9 year olds obviously aren't going to understand this! So they shouldn't be writing reviews on movies they don't follow!!!!
But I think that those who are 12 and up would understand this perfectly. For I am 13, and this is one of my favorite movies.
