Plot Summary

From the director of The Bourne Identity comes this riveting thriller inspired by the experiences of real-life CIA officer Valerie Plame (Academy Award® nominee** Naomi Watts). When Plame's retired ambassador husband Joe Wilson (Academy Award® winner** Sean Penn) writes a newspaper article challenging the basis for the U.S. war on Iraq, the White House leaks Plame's undercover status—leaving her international contacts vulnerable, her career in shambles and her life in danger. Crackling with sharp dialogue, gripping intrigue and heart-pounding suspense, Fair Game is the adventure that's so unbelievable, it can only be real.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Liman skillfully intercuts television news footage of the president and administration officials with a skilled cast of actors. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Nov 11, 2010

Fresh: You'd have to go back to All the President's Men for a better example of fresh American political scandal being turned into slam-bang, star-powered drama. – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Nov 12, 2010

Fresh: For every spycraft scene, every illustration of the deadly blowback from the leak that Liman dramatizes, the movie has half a dozen scenes of a delicately balanced home life turned on its head by a government bent on destroying one of its critics. – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel, Nov 17, 2010

Rotten: There's the usual pompous waffle implying that the very right to criticise makes America pretty damned heroic after all. But mostly it's just very forgettable. – Mark Demetrius, FILMINK (Australia), Nov 23, 2010

A very good and important movie!

This is a good movie! And as a current political science student I can say these critics who are dismissing the movie as a liberal myth are simply ignorant! This comes fairly close to ther actual events and facts. If you dont believe me read some peer reviewed articles from the likes of Bennett, Lawrence, Livingston, Wyatt Andrews and Edwin Baker. Furthermore there are quite a few officials from the white house staff who came out and reported that the Bush administration was pushing for results after the CIA was not coming up with much conclusive evidence of WMD's. They were silenced and kept out of the broad media (CNN, Fox etc.) via the indexing model. But if you are not lazy and seek to get your information from other sources (especially academic ones) instead of such softnews specialists like 24h entertainers CNN and Fox, then you will find the truth!
So please dont be discouraged to check this movie out, to then do your own research on this matter and then come to your own conclusions.

Excellent

Well worth your time.

Enjoyable hour and 47 minutes

Strong cast and good acting kept the movie entertaining and enjoyable for the vast majority of time. You will never know how much is 100% accurate so watch it because it is a movie, not a documentary nor does it advertise to be. So for those of you who bash this movie for being liberal maybe you were confused and didn't notice it was a drama. If you have time and want a good drama to take up your evening I believe you will be pleasantly entertained. Again don't expect to be exposed to the true happenings within the CIA or what probably happened in the White House.
