Plot Summary
Robert Axle (Kevin Spacey of AMERICAN BEAUTY, CASINO JACK), an eccentric inventor turned egomaniacal infomercial guru, loses it all when one of his inventions maims thousands of customers. After 8 years in prison, Axle is ready to resume his life and, more importantly, redeem his name and rebuild his billion-dollar empire. But first he must convince his estranged 22-year-old daughter (Camilla Belle of PUSH, FROM PRADA TO NADA) to let him live with her and her quirky, over-protective roommate (Heather Graham of THE HANGOVER, AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME).

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The screenplay, by Mr. Cooper and Jonathan D. Krane, is so sketchy that it feels like a hastily executed first draft.
Rotten: Colorless exposition and a lack of imagination or wit stall Father of Invention at the starting gate.
Rotten: The rather unappealing character of Axel is indulged with every opportunity for redemption, as Spacey is indulged with every opportunity to showboat.
Rotten: Like Graham and Madsen, Spacey too often gets lost in smaller projects that aren't worthy of his talents. He, and his costars, deserve a more inventive movie than this one.
Customer Reviews
Ehhhh
Watchable, but not very entertaining. I give it a C- .
Not too bad.
Not all that bad but it feels a little rushed.
Waste of time. The A Team is better than this
So disappointed. Bland. Very predictable. Just flat annoying characters. Don't waste your money. Worse Kevin Spacey character I've seen. And he's the reason I trusted it would be good.
