Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Set mostly in Las Vegas, Finding Amanda offers a vision of confused Americans losing their already shaky bearings in the world's gaudiest honky-tonk. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: The film's tone shifts jarringly from superficial broad comedy to something far darker. And the hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold scenario is as old as the profession itself. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 27, 2008

Rotten: Written with more bite, the premise might hold up, but as executed here by Tolan, it is a soft-hearted, haphazard mess. – Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times, Oct 18, 2008

Rotten: Finding Amanda, the alternate title of which might well have been "I Oughta Be in Rehab," is an uneasy chronicle of addiction and denial wrapped in the rhythms of Neil Simon. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Oct 18, 2008

Quite origanal

This was a very good movie. I thought it sounded cool cause my name is amanda but I ended up really enjoying this movie. The plot is good and it has some great and interesting quirks.

Really good movie

I liked it so much I watched twice. I love Mathew Broderick, and even though it was hard to picture him in this light (gambler, alchoholic, etc), he was so good and entertaining.
