I Love Everything This Chooses to Be.
When I first saw this on MTV back when I was 9 or 10 years old, I knew I had to check out this band. I knew nothing about them, but Stevie's "Gold Dust Woman" performance at this concert more or less changed my life. From that day on, I was a Fleetwood Mac fan.
I'm hard-pressed to find any cons to this video/concert. Sure, some things get cut out from the original dates (this was filmed over two nights and edited together)--songs like "Oh Daddy" (a personal favorite) and "Not that Funny" among others--and some of the songs they included are sort of bizarre (I'm looking at you, "My Little Demon"), but what it boils down to is this: Here's one of the more popular groups of the 1970s. They've all dated each other and ruined each others' lives to one degree or another. Some 20 years later, they can still manage to perform an incredible concert.
And if you have any doubts, check out "Silver Springs," the definitive performance of this concert and definitely one of the Mac's top 10 filmed performances ever. Stevie stares Lindsey down like a matador planning how to approach a bull. The tension between them is incredibly thick and it's obvious to everyone that the band is definitely feeling the same things they were 20-odd years ago when most of these songs were written and recorded.
And therein lies the magic of The Dance.
Great concert, but
Great concert, my favourite group. But - the video quality is awful, don't watch it fullscreen
