Plot Summary

AMAZING FILM WITH AN EXCELLENT CAST!
Fright Night was an excellent film that distinguished itself from the amazing original but still through out a few shout outs here and there. The cast was awesome with amazing performances by Colin Farrell & Anton Yelchin in the staring roles. Though two major scene stealers were definitely David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse; David always gave a laugh as the super slick vampire slayer and Chris did an excellent job in a role of a scary and sexy vampire, branching away from his previous 'nerdy' performance. Overall, this film is a must see for all horror & comedy fans! Its actors were quick on their feet w/ loads of hilarious improv that enhanced the uniqueness of the film. It's funny, scary, bloody, and EXCELLENT!
AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL, IF NOT BETTER!
As a huge fan of horror movies, I'm always searching for the most unique and deeply underrated films in the genre. A few years ago, I happened to stumble across "Fright Night" (the 1985 original) and it completely blew me away. The premise was cleverly original, the acting was more than convincing, and the fact that it infused witty humor with ingenious scare tactics made it all the more enjoyable. So when I heard that a 3D remake would be released starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, I just knew it was too good to pass up. I ended up seeing the movie on opening day, and not only did it end up being a lot better than I expected, but it actually improved upon its predecessor in so many ways. Yelchin shines as the film's likable main character, Charley Brewster, an average teenager living in a suburban neighborhood near Las Vegas who suspects his neighbor of partaking in "vampire-like" activities. And although he does give a very credible performance, it's almost completely overshadowed by that of Colin Farrell, who plays Jerry Dandrige, the flick's bloodthirsty villain. His character is so incredibly convincing, you'd swear he was actually the smooth-talking vampire portrayed on screen. I should also commend Christopher Mintz-Plasse ("McLovin") for his hilarious, yet somber, role as "Evil" Ed Lee, Charley's former best friend. But perhaps the biggest surprise of the entire movie was David Tennant's fantastically surreal performance as Peter Vincent, a snotty Criss Angel-esque magician who eventually turns out to be an integral part of the storyline. Speaking of which, the plot is just as intelligently refreshing as ever, even when compared to that of the original. In fact, nothing in this film seems to come across as reused or shopworn. I'd even go as far as saying that it can be considered a stand-alone film all its own. In the end, "Fright Night" is an invigoratingly vibrant remake that greatly benefits from terrific performances, smart vampire-related humor, and some of the most stylishly gory special effects you're likely to see this year. So if you wanna watch a well-made horror flick that's as funny as it is scary, trust me when I say you're gonna have a bloody good time!
Simply outstanding!
This was definitely one of the best film I had seen this summer! I was originally drawn to it because of David Tennant, being a Doctor Who fan. But I was blown away by the overall quality of the film. I really enjoyed the balance of humor and horror. 10 out of 10 for me.
