Plot Summary

Hollywood 1937 – Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the world’s most prestigious and powerful movie studio, tricks 120 underage chorus girls into attending a stag party for its visiting salesmen. When dancer Patricia Douglas tries to flee, she is brutally raped; defying the studio’s order for silence, Douglas files a landmark lawsuit while MGM launches the biggest cover-up in Hollywood history-until six decades later, when author-screenwriter David Stenn stumbles upon the story. Stenn's decade-long search for the truth leads to Patricia Douglas herself, nearly ninety and still in hiding. Will she go public once again, or will Hollywood’s best-suppressed scandal die with her?

Self Indulgant

I found this documentary to be completely self-indulgant on the part of the filmmaker. Stenn took what could have been a gripping vignette of Douglas in her final days and her last chance to clear her name and turned it into his personal story of his interaction with Douglas. What's worse, I found many of the film's more pivotal moments manufactured. This is not to suggest that the filmmaker made up certain events, but it would appear that he went back and reshot things that he must have missed on camera.

For instance, the filmmaker spends five minutes buiding up to a phone call in the hotel room ("I'm so nervous", "camel hair coat", etc.), but as soon as the phone rings cuts to AFTER the phone call so that he can retell what was said on the phone. Why edit out the phone call from the film? Why tell me what was said on the phone call when you could have documented the phone call? Evem if the phone call was one sided (presumably, you would not have known before hand that you should have been taping that phone call), listening to the filmmaker trying to calm Douglas down and assure her that bailing on the interview was OK would have been more interesting and connected much better with the audience.

I feel cheated by Rotten Tomatos on this one.....

Amazing Documentary

I strongly recommend this documentary! I learned a lot from it and how dedicated the young man is that filmed this is truly inspirational in itself! I recommended this documentary to professors, friends, and family.

The story itself is shocking

It is shocking that this horrible incident ( on a massive scale ) was brushed under the rug for almost 70 years. Money has a lot of power, and it corrupted everyone she trusted. It's a sad tale that needs to be told.
