Plot Summary
Based on the international best-selling novel, The Girl Who Played With Fire is the explosive follow-up to the literary and cinematic hit The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. In this second installment of Stieg Larsson’s phenomenal “Millennium” trilogy, Lisbeth Salander is a wanted woman. A researcher and a Millennium journalist about to expose the truth about the sex trade in Sweden are brutally murdered and Salander’s prints are on the weapon. Her history of unpredictable and violent behavior makes her an official danger to society. Rotten: The Girl Who Played With Fire narrows instead of broadens, and while the final scenes are bloody indeed, they frustratingly raise questions the film doesn't care to answer for now.
Fresh: Delivers its first jolts moments after the opening credits and serves up surprisingly tender moments amidst the suspense and heart-pounding action.
Fresh: The Girl Who Played with Fire, may not be as good as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but it's not chopped liver either.

Not as good as "Dragon Tattoo"
"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" was possibly the best movie of 2010 (I know it came out before then... but 2010 was the US release date). "The Girl Who Played With Fire", although an excellent movie, failed to measure up to it's predecessor. Which is really too bad, since I had actually liked the book. "Fire" better than the book "Dragon Tattoo".
Even though my review makes it look like I hated this movie, I didn't. It's a great film, don't get me wrong. Highly recommended, especially to fans of the books. It's just that, as a movie, it doesn't quite deliver what "Dragon Tattoo" did.
Very good adaption of the book
Very different than The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but still very good. Quite a bit from the book is left out, but the general plot is still the same. I read the books and have seen all 3 films, and they all match up fairly well with each other. The books, as usual, are better and are much more detailed and developed. Still this movie is great and Lisbeth Salander is played perfectly by Noomi Rapace. A superb movie.
They Did It Again
After captivating in the first one, the producers of The Girl Who Played With Fire have done it again. Personally, I almost liked this movie better than the first one. In this second installment, we get to learn more about all the characters and see them evolve throughout the plot. I thought this movie had everything that its predecessor had, minus the rape scene, and more. We still get elements of mystery, surprise, anxiety, and excitement, and now also the element of a personal crime. Spoiler alert! Watching this movie, I was on the edge of my seat when Salander is having the conversation with her father. It's the feeling of personal betrayal in this movie that the previous movie lacked. I thought that all the actors did a great job, and the producers did a wonderful job of filming it. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment to come to the big screen. Most definitely recommend this movie for watching.
