Gorillaz: Demon Days Live
Excellent band! Exciting, talented, and also brilliant in-concert use of the same •almost• "3D" characters in their video, "On Melancholy Hill" — which is available for free on iTunes, by the way, and I •strongly• suggest that you go, now, and download it! — that they project upon the giant screen during the show, & that the crowd seems to love... And that I thought looked pretty fresh and cool myself! All of their videos are the same way, as far as I could tell, I'm a new fan, so I could be wrong... But when I checked over them, it looked that way.
The album that this song is from, "Demon Days" was made in 2005, and one can get it easily from iTunes for $12.99.
Something that I noticed; while I really enjoyed the video itself of "On Melancholy Hill", I was cognitive that it was a very different sound from "Demon Days", which is a good thing for me, as I love bands that are varied in their style. I bring it up only because some people may purchase this great disc based solely on one of these two songs, and I want it made known how multifaceted they are!
Their sound is not quite techno, not quite funk, but something in the middle that works out to be a very interesting sound. (Interesting note: Gorillaz are actually in the "Alternative" genre...listed along side Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, & Beck.) You'll be listening, then all-of-a-sudden, you'll find yourself tapping a finger, or moving some body part, to the beat. This band creeps up on you, and then it's there to stay. Personally, I can't wait until they come to my town so I can see them in concert, and catch up on all that I've been missing so far!
But first off, I'm headed to iTunes to download the entire disc, "Demon Days". And since this disc is actually an older one, I have several more to choose from as well!
