Plot Summary

Fresh: When Mr. Greengrass made United 93, his 2006 reconstruction of one of the Sept. 11 hijackings, some people fretted that it was too soon. My own response to Green Zone is almost exactly the opposite: it's about time.
Fresh: Too little and too late? Maybe. But even in this Bourne Zone, Damon and Greengrass haven't shirked their duty to enlighten and entertain.
Rotten: What Chandrasekaran did so well -- tenaciously cataloging the colossal morass of America's small and not-so-small mistakes -- Greengrass eschews for the popcorn-crunching conventions of a Hollywood potboiler.
Rotten: Manufacturing thrills takes precedence over any kind of journalistic insight.

some parts accurate
Having been there in 2004, 2005, 2006, one month of 2007, half of 2008, half of 2009 and now - I can say that some of the things they got right, some of it was wrong. The insurgency (bad guys) used a WMD as a roadside bomb in spring of 2004 here in Baghdad, so it was no "secret" that WMDs were out there. Parts of the Palace were suprisingly accurate especially the press briefing area and the dining facility. The dining area was a bit larger though, but decor and atmosphere was spot on. In 2004 as I am sure it was in 2003, Baghdad was not as "cramped" as the film depicted. It is even more "cramped" now in 2010 than the movie depicted though. The "character" types varied a bit both understating some personalities and overstating some personalities. Overall, it did bring back some memories. Most of everyone was in thier own little world / team / unit. That sort of stovepipe compartmentalization was accurate. The only thing most folks were interested in was trade when it came to working with each other.
Captivating
This movie was incredible. If you like action movies, you will like this. If you liked the Bourne sereies, you will like this. Matt Damon has a great track record of movies from Saving Private Ryan to the Bourne movies to the The Departed. Now you can add Green Zone to this list. A definite buy for any action movie fan.
Don't bother
Not even close to the Bourne movies. This film is a political agenda masquerading as an action movie - the "action" was few and far between, the agenda was everywhere. Seriously, a Chief Warrant Officer WMD inspector is going to out-smart, out-gun, and out-soldier the Special Forces operatives??? Like I said in the title, don't bother with this one.
