Big Set Back For Disney

One would think that I, being as huge a HSM fan as I am, would have absolutely loved this movie. What with the new and exciting dance numbers and songs, the actors from the first movie returning, and the same cheesy plotline, what's not to love? Well, how about...everything? The first and biggest problem was the plot. They tried to squeeze too many things into too short a time, and they did a bad job of choosing what should be in the A-plot, the B-plot, etc. They pretty much shoved Troyella, and Gabriella into the C-plot in order to make room for Sharpay and Troy. Last time I checked, the movie was about two teens wanting to break free from their cliques and try something new. Last time I checked, Troy AND Gabriella were the two major characters in this movie. Not just Troy, not just Sharpay, not Troy and Sharpay, but Troy and Gabriella. It was completely unacceptable for Disney to give Gabriella such a small part in this movie, considering how big a role she played in everything that happened in the last movie. And to replace her with Sharpay? That pretty much ruined the whole movie for me. Everything that happened in the first movie seemed to have magically been forgotten in the second. Suddenly, Troy doesn't like to sing, Sharpay's evil again, and Gabriella is no longer considered important to the movie. Consistency and time were the major problem in this movie. Things happened too fast, so fast, they didn't make sense. One minute Troy's the good guy, two scenes later, everyone thinks he's a jerk. One minute everything is fine between Gabriella and Troy, the next, they're breaking up. One minute Troy can't stand Sharpay, the next, he's flirting with her without a care in the world. I was left with many unanswered questions after watching this movie. Why did Gabriella go back to Troy? How did she get the necklace? What made Troy think it was okay to flirt with another girl when he had a girlfriend? Why did Gabriella take Troy back when he didn't give her so much as an apology, or a single thought? How did everything get so screwed up, and why didn't the writers take their time to fix everything they ruined the right way? Definitely a disappointment. The songs were better, but they did not connect to the plot at all. Songs like What Time Is It, Work This Out, Fabulous and I Don't Dance were useless songs put in the movie for the sake of having them. They did nothing for the plot, they didn't even RELATE to the plot. They were good songs, but they took up airtime that could have been used to add scenes that would have helped the movie to make more sense. The only character I liked was Ryan. I probably would have liked Taylor, Gabriella and Chad, but, like I said before, they were pushed back in order to make room for Troy and Sharpay. I certianly hope the third one is better. But this one was an extreme let down.

Review for High School Musical 2!

Wow! HSM2 is probably the best Disney movie since HSM! It's family-oriented, funny, and has a fun up-tempo beat kids will love! If you don't want to purchase this on iTunes or want to see more HSM fun, buy the Extended Edition wherever movies are sold! The DVD includes behind the scenes of each song, bloopers, the never before seen music sequence, Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, and more! In my opinion, HSM2 is one of the best musicals ever, because it's a feel-good movie and each song is catchy! If you haven't seen this, you must! It's the best kid's movie of 2007! And, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman, and Corbin Bleu give outstanding performances that relate you the viewers better than in HSM! So click "BUY"! and you won't regret it!

Who Says Sequels Are Worse?!

I had to admit - when I first watched 2, I immediately liked 1 better but I had to give it chance...I think it's much better! The characters have grown mentally and physically and it was a real treat to watch the first and second time. Zac Efron FINALLY sang and he proved he COULD. Vanessa Hudgens looked gorgeous and everyone was just shining. I am VERY much looking forard to number 3 :]
