Plot Summary
UNFORGIVING. UNCOMPROMISING. UNMERCIFUL. UNRATED. The 1978 original version of I Spit On Your Grave was reviled, condemned, and banned around the world for its on-screen depictions of depravity and violence. Now experience the acclaimed remake that dares to go even further: Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler) is a big-city novelist who rents an isolated country cabin to write her new book. But when she is brutally raped by a group of sadistic rednecks, Jennifer has plans for more than mere revenge. One-by-one she will find them and will inflict horrific acts of agonizing torment upon them. And no jury in America would ever convict her. Jeff Branson (TV’s ALL MY CHILDREN), Daniel Franzese (BULLY), Rodney Eastman (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 & 4), Chad Lindberg (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS), and Tracey Walter (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) co-star in this graphic, shocking and undeniably disturbing new take on one of the most controversial films of all time.

Rotten: This is a remake of Meir Zarchi's infamous 1978 exercise I Spit on Your Grave, made back when torture porn was readily identified as disgusting and worthy of outrage. Now it's just one more movie in which genitals are sliced.
Rotten: Certainly, the rape and killings are more intricate, graphic, excruciating and nauseating. Hooray.
Rotten: Exploitation remake delivers sadism and gore but little else.
Rotten: Just piles imaginary atrocities on top of real ones, and then halfheartedly claim that it means something. Well, it doesn't.

Sweet Revenge
I've read the critics take on this movie. Both the orignal version and the remake. I'm sad to say that they seemed to have missed the point completely. They said that during screenings, men walked out of the theater. There are only two reasons for that. 1. They are horrified at the crimes men can commit against women. 2. They were turned on by it. I think you have to question exactly which you were while watching, which makes the story very existential. Same goes for women. I don't doubt that some women were squeamish and couldn't take it. Yet this is a crime against women that happens every day. Not to this extent, but it does happen. I think the director did a great job in capturing the essence of what a rape victim feels, goes through and fantasizes about afterwards. Perhaps he could have shown a little more of her recovery, but that's the only flaw I found. He did an excellent job of showing the "pack" mentality that runs in some people, as well as the psychological break the main character suffers. He also captures that inner desire rape victims have to get back at their attackers. It has been proven time and time again that the courts really don't pursue rape cases unless there is extreme violence, a weapon was used, or the woman died. Sometimes, fantasizing about payback is all the victim is left with. In this movie, she actually gets her revenge, but you never see her laugh, celebrate or really smile while doing so. To see the men beg and plead and have their words thrown back at them was most excellent. If you've been raped, this isn't a movie for you, unless you are at the point in your life where you can see violence against a woman and not run to throw up. Even "pretend" rape is horrible and hard to stomach. It was a great movie. I'll never watch it again, but seeing a victim turn the tables on her attackers was cathartic. The reason? I am a rape survivor.
Good Flick
Wow, after reading one review I thought that person really had some personal issues. Actually this is just a really cool hoor flick with some really cool horro effects. Im not sure why some people read into these movies so deeply. Get a grip, "it's just a movie" Im a huge horror fan and this one starts out a bit slow but exciting enough to keep you interested in the characters. I've seen the original and this one is a very well made remake. It's a revenge type horror movie but oh boy what revenge lol. I'm a 46 year old male and all I can say is "you go girl" ha!!!
