Plot Summary

Shorts International is proud to present "In God We Trust" and "Consent," a double-feature of award-winning shorts from Director JASON REITMAN and Producer DANIEL DUBIECKI, the acclaimed filmmaking team behind JUNO and THANK YOU FOR SMOKING. "In God We Trust" premiered at Sundance and went on to pick up, among others, BEST COMEDY and AUDIENCE AWARD at Aspen Shorts Fest, and BEST SHORT FILM at Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and New York Comedy Film Festival. The film opens as Robert reads the words "In God We Trust" on a quarter, when he gets pulverized into a limp flying fetal position by a speeding truck. Only moments into purgatory, he learns he is going to hell because he mowed the word asshole into his neighbor's lawn, shipped a box of vomit to his ex-girlfriend, and didn't get enough points in general to warrant immediate entrance through the pearly gates. Fate gives Robert a second chance, however via punctilious clerk, Gil, and Robert escapes back to Earth. Now, he must wrap things up with his girlfriend, his dad, and his parakeet "Benny", as purgatory tries to kill him with everything they've got. Awarded BEST SHORT at Aspen Shortsfest, 2004 and the Seattle International Film Festival, 2004, "Consent" tells the tale of a couple of college coeds who consult a sexual consent form - in bed.

Stellar Shorts

I absolutely loved these shorts -- Jason did it again.... hilarious, innovative and intelligent. i highly recommend.

Outstanding

Both of these short films are funny, intelligent, and highly original. This stupid comedy could spark interesting conversations if you watch it with someone else. Would be good to watch alone, with friends, or with a date. Well worth $2.

Two beautiful films

Short films in generall tell you a lot with a short amount of time. These two do an outstanding job of describing the characters through very insteresting situations. A must see.
