Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Wan and Whannell have, in effect, ripped pages from the "Poltergeist" playbook and stripped the formulas down to old-style gothic scares.
Fresh: If there's a complaint to be made about Insidious, it's that the film's second half is unable to live up to the impossibly high standards set by the first half.
Rotten: Insidious isn't scary. It's laughable. And kind of sad.
Fresh: Insidious is happy enough with elevating your breathing pattern every now and then, as opposed to choking you outright with one shock after another.

The scariest movie I've ever seen.
If you're tired of the countless horror film duds that are out there and you're looking for a movie that will make you want to sleep with the lights on for a week, look no further. Insidious puts all other scary movies to shame. I was horrified the entire movie. Not only is the movie consistently terrifying, but the storyline is surprisingly elaborate. For those of you who like to be shocked, there is a twist ending as well. When you put together the fantastic storyline and 10 out of 10 scaryness of Insidious, you get the greatest horror film ever made. You won't be disappointed, just terrified.
Insidious [8/10]
This movie gets an eight out of ten because, in all honestly, was the only movie that I've seen in the past five years that genuinely scared me, made me feel creeped out, etc. The first half of the movie is an experience of the ghosts and demons inside of the house that the family (mainly the wife) has to deal with. The second half is more like a poltergeist persona. It had extremely creepy scenes that really sent chills down my spine. Some of these things weren't necessarily jumps, but more of, how in the- what did she just- what?!?
Now the best part was the ending in my opinion. I am not going to spoil anything. Even now when I think about it, it gives me chills.
Why didn't the movie get a 10? The "action" scenes could have been directly a little better. They were kind of cheesy and did not add to the fear of the movie. I wish they made it a simple chase instead of what they did do. You'll see what I mean when you watch it. I highly recommend that you do, unless you're too scared. ;)
Scariest film ever!
I've seen them all, don't watch this alone. Camera angles are extremely suggestive, and the main characters are quite realistic
