Plot Summary
Into the Wild is based on a true story and the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless (Hirsch) abandons his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

Oscar Worthy
I sat down to watch this movie with my parents thinking it was going to be stupid. It would probably be a dumb nature movie about a guy who just travels and finds hardships along the way. As the movie progressed I discovered it was so much more. This is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. The meaning behind it is so unbelievably deep and it will leave you thinking about it for days or even weeks afterwards. In some ways I think all of us could relate, we're so eager to just get away from the place we call home. We want to find something new, of course probably not to such an extreme as displayed in this film. This taught me so much and left me feeling heart broken and touched. I fell in love with this movie from the first viewing and I'm sure you will too. So don't hesitate and buy this or at least rent it. I promise you won't be dissapointed.
One of my favorite films of all time
Into the Wild was easily the best picture of 2007, in my opinion. It is a real shame that the acadamy cheated this movie of what it deserves, all beacause they hate Sean Penn. Emile Hirsch gives a truly brilliant preformance, truly pulling you into the character and the story. He is also backed by great preformances by Hal Holbrook, William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden and many more. The cinematography is fantastic, consisting of gorgeous visuals and sweeping landscapes. Eddie Vedder also brings us a very fitting soundtrack, that flows throughout the movie. This movie is able to evoke so much emotion and will really leave you in a state of deep thought. Truly, truly, a towering achievement in film making. Peace, love, and respect to all.
