Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: [A] strange, funny and sad story.
Fresh: ...Cahill wins me over with this poignant depiction of a tender father-daughter relationship.
Rotten: A flaky, tedious, intermittently likable fable about being crazy in a crazy world.
Fresh: This is mighty tricky territory, and Cahill deserves major credit for keeping the story from becoming mawkish or twee.

great movie
I loved the movie - brings up some funny and not-so-funny memories of my childhood and my own very excentric father (not sure if he has a bipolar disorder or a form of schizophrenia - he has never been professionally diagnosed or treated). This movie is a must-watch for anyone who has struggled and coped with mental disorders or simply has excentric family members or friends (and i think we all at least know a quirky friend or two) It is funny, but not the slap-stick funny. This movie is grounded in reality and leaves you thinking about it for a while after waching.
difficult subject matter to tackle
Most folks in the 95th percentile will not "get" the subject of this movie (as evident in some of the previous reviews). It's about a daughter having to deal with a father who has no redeemable value. Dad repeatedly disappoints despite daughter's attempts to love unconditionally. Finally, after giving him chance after chance to redeem himself, he surprises her at last. --a lesson in long-suffering with a parent with whom you don't see eye to eye.
great movie
it's just good.. oh, and the person who gave it one star gave positive reviews to miley cyrus, ashley tisdale, and vanessa hudgens so don't take that review into account and let it stop you from seeing this movie (:
