Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Tadjedin shows an intimate understanding of how couples communicate through ellipses and of all that remains unsaid even amid torrents of angry words.
Fresh: The will-they-or-won't-they structure is a bit facile, but Last Night is on to something fascinating.
Rotten: It's hard to care about the fate of a marriage that never quite comes into focus.
Rotten: Here, as in a cosmetics ad, the performers are assigned to telegraph desire as characters defined by visual stereotype, their empty chatter decorated with facile metaphors.
Customer Reviews
Delicate!
A subtle film, carefully photographed, and elegantly portrayed by the four main characters. This one kept me changing my guesses as to what would transpire. This film finishes its story midway through the narrative. The characters are organic, changing several times as the story develops, and they leave the viewer with more questions than answers. The film is executed with simplicity and clarity. It's more than worth the price. Good New York films often are.
regarding reviews
Really, this is not the forum for comments on the pricing, but it is ascribed for reviewing the film in itself.
The ‘Movie’ Review
Cheating.
This word is something that we as a society hopefully experience once in our own lives. Not in the context that it is morally correct to cheat on someone, but in the context of life lessons and experiences. The probability of one married couple of three years to cheat on each other on the same night seems somewhat low. Putting that aside, I give this film 4 out of 5. The acting was good, based on a {bad, good, great} scale. The cinematography was different in the type of rigid cuts and color editing to help create the mood. The director does a good job building the characters. I do believe he could have done a better job with building Michael’s (played by Sam Worthington) character to keep the same interest that he gives with Joanna’s (Keira Knightley) character.
The ending is perfect. Period.
As far as the $6.99 rental price, I think people are jumping to conclusions. iTunes is not going to raise the price of all their movie rentals. This film has not been released and was a Tribeca Film festival production.
American’s, why don’t you skip out on McDonald’s for lunch one day so you can stop complaining about the price of this film and rent it.
