Plot Summary

Sleek, well-dressed and polite, our hero (Daniel Craig) has made a fortune selling cocaine and ecstasy without really getting his hands dirty. Now he's looking to retire while he's young enough to enjoy his ill-gotten gains. But crime boss Jimmy Price (Kenneth Cranham) needs a couple of favors: The drug addict daughter of a mob overlord (Michael Gambon) has gone missing and Price wants her tracked down. Price also wants a middleman to buy a huge shipment of ecstasy from a loose-cannon crook called The Duke (Jamie Foreman). Sounds straightforward enough. But nothing's ever simple. With a renegade Serbian warlord thrown into the equation and a host of dangerous lowlifes out to help and hinder him, our hero soon realizes getting out of the drug business just might cost him everything. Including his life.

Fresh: An exercise in high style, high octane and low-key suaveness. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jul 16, 2008

One Of My Top Ten

I love this movie. It's intricate without being convoluted . It has wit and dicey fun when. It's rough and tough in the right areas, without trying too hard. I usually use this movie as a way to gauge another person's movie taste and whether or not I will take movie opinions from them. If they don't like this.. I won't value their opinion. Daniel Craig is awesome. But so is the rest of the supporting cast. A classic in British crime movies.

Casino Royale showed you how James became Bond, Layer Cake shows you why Daniel Craig became James.

Simply a great movie. It is much better than Snatch, Revolver, Lock Stock and Smoking Barrels, Rocknrolla or any other movie of its kind. Daniel Craig gives a convincing performance that will surely make him one of your favorite actors. Buy this movie! It’s addictive, fun, re-watchable as all movies you buy should be, and contains a great sense of style that will improve your ITunes collection. Daniel Craig, if you are reading this, I want you to know that your performance in Casino Royale gave me the motivation to get fit, and thus the confidence to go to acting auditions. Whether his movies will have a life changing impact on you as one of them has had on me, you’ll surely find them enjoyable. Of all of his movies other than Casino Royale, this one takes the cake.

My favorite movie!

I love it, its one of those movies i can watch over, over and over again and i never get tired of watching it. Very clever and Daniel Craig elevates this movie. Great characters and story, seriously get it.
