Plot Summary
Sandy Frank Sandy Frank He’s the source of all our pain...So begins the legendary anthem performed by Joel, Servo and Crow that elevated Mr. Frank — the producer of the English-language adaptation of Time Of The Apes — to almost mythical antihero status among MSTies. Adapted (i.e., shredded and stitched into incoherence) from the 1974 Japanese series Saru No Gundan, Time Of The Apes follows the travails of a scientist and two small children who are accidentally frozen and thaw into a future ruled by apes. The plot may sound familiar, but the riffs are absolutely unique.

Another Priceless MST Movie!
I think this one just came out on iTunes because I had never seen it before. I regularly peruse iTunes for any latest MST movies.
If you like MST movies, you will like this one. The movie, of course, is horrible, but Mike and "the bots" make it bearable and even enjoyable!
A terrible film? "I don't care!"
Prepare to suffer through the lamest ripoff of ANYTHING (in this case, Planet of the Apes) ever created... courtesy of the now infamous Sandy Frank! If you've seen any of the five Gamera episodes, than you are already familiar with the work of Sandy Frank... in other words, enter at your own risk!
Time of the Apes is actually several episodes of a 1974 Japanese TV series created by Tsuburaya Productions, creator of such quality programs as Ultra Q and Ultraman! However, "quality" is not the appropriate word for this particular foray into the very far reaches of the ridiculous! The story chronicles the adventures of little Johnny, his sister Carolyn, and scientist Catherine (wow, how about those Japanese names, eh?) who are cryogenically frozen and awaken in the not to distant future... no, not next Sunday A.D.... where apes drive the cars, build the cities, make the laws, the Gods! (Yes, that was from the Planet of the Apes trailer...) Anyway, our annoying, high pitched voiced trio teams up with tough guy Godo and irritating ape child Pepe to try to return home, while avoiding the wrath of the poorly makeuped ape army, led by the brutal and vengeful General Gaybar... yes, Gaybar. Perhaps you didn't hear me... HIS NAME IS GAYBAR!!!! Can that even be a name?!?! When it comes to Sandy Frank, you can never tell...
However, when it comes to MST3K, hilarity is always certain! And this episode (number 306) is no exception! Settle in for some first class riffing and awesome host segments from Joel, Crow, and Tom, including an analysis dubbed "Why Doesn't Johnny Care?", a pageant of the Scopes monkey trial, a presentation on ape fashion, and, of course, the now classic Sandy Frank Song!!!!
So sit back, relax, and enjoy yet another classic season 3 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000... and then go cleanse you're soul by watching the original Planet of the Apes!
"Sandy Frank! Sandy Frank!
He's the source of all our pain..."!
