Plot Summary

Greg Whiteley's documentary tells the story of glam-rock-punk band the New York Dolls, from their meteoric rise to their drug-and-alcohol-riddled demise. But the film's main focus is a current portrait of bassist and leader Arthur "Killer" Kane, a recovering alcoholic who now lives a quiet life as a Mormon. When rocker Morrissey plans a reunion of the band, Whiteley captures Kane and the rest of the group as they attempt a surprising comeback.

Surprisingly Touching

This is one of those great documentaries where surprising things happen and you're just glad the cameras were there to catch it. It's very funny, and equally touching. Who could have guessed...

AMAZING touching movie

I thought I would hate this movie, but it was an amazing story of a man who completely changed his life. Some might say he was better off as a "rich" rock star, but in the end his conversion to Mormonism and his spiritual "wealth" was amazing to watch. Now iTunes needs to get the soundtrack on here, especially David Johannsen's versions of "A Poor Wayfairing Man of Grief" and "Come Come Ye Saints" they are awe inspiring.

Great Film

I saw this at a screening a few years back & found it very entertaining & touching. A brilliant film even if you are unfamiliar w/ the New York Dolls.
