Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: What's remarkable here is the consistency of the mediocrity, the uniform fraudulence of the minipremises, the reliable awkwardness of such almost-English lines as "Your eyes would suffice to give tired men hope." – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A variety of wry, sentimental, mildly erotic tales that come over as pieces O Henry might have submitted to Playboy. – Philip French, Guardian [UK], Feb 7, 2011

Rotten: This sequel to the superior Paris Je T'Aime is pleasant but inconsequential. – David Gritten, Daily Telegraph, Feb 3, 2011

Rotten: If you've got a heart of treacle, an attention span of 15 minutes and can't afford the air fare then there are worse ways to spend a couple of hours. – Catherine Shoard, Guardian [UK], Feb 3, 2011

People don't know what this movie is

This is not a normal feature film. People need to see it for what it is and stop critiquing it like it were a normal film. It's a compilation of short films made by different directors. All the bad reviews for this movie seem to ignore or negate the fact that it is extremely difficult to tell a story in short amounts of time. Each short has its own great qualities. It's fun and everyone who isn't narrow-minded should give it a try.

Pointless..

They had a nice idea going with love in New York, but they drew it out to the point where it was nails on a chalkboard trying to finish the movie. The movie was so slow, at times you just had to fast forward just to keep from falling asleep. The "cut and paste" trailer made the movie seem like it was going to be cute and funny, but it wasn't funny, it was actually rather depressing.

Sure, there were big time actors in it, but don't watch this just because you see an actor you like, he or she will only be on screen for ten minutes. There were little scenes of "people falling in love" and it just jumped from one story to the other and none of them flowed together. This movie was sorely disappointing. I wasted two hours of my life I will never get back. Save your time, money, and sanity for a better movie by these actors that will hold you attention and have a real plot.

Weak

New York: I Love You is somewhat entertaining, but it isn't nearly as good as Paris Je Taime. My boyfriend and I were disappointed that the whole thing takes place in Manhattan alone. A better title would have been Manhattan: I Love You. Obviously the movie is made up of several short films by different directors, so some are better than others.

In my view, however, the overall product came across as trying too hard to be artsy and deep, which I found annoying.
